I'm having an angiogram soon and am rather nervous. Any reassurance would be appreciated.

Hi, I had one done with a stent being fitted about three years ago,WORRY NOT. I always maintain it`s far worse having a tooth out,in fact it`s quite interesting watching the monitor as you see what is being done. You don`t have to watch if you don`t want to.Mine was done at the London Chest, it`s all off to a fine art now. Kind Regards. Graham.

I had a camera and a soldering iron type thingy pushed up my femoral vein to my heart ... no problem, did not feel it. the soldering iron was not a joy but that is not what you are having. Would have watched it but they took my specs off and couldn't see past the end of my nose. Honestly .. nothing to worry about at all. Got a take out curry on my way home!!!! Oh and everyone at the hospital was lovely too..... even the blood taking was painless. You will wonder why you worried. hope all is well.
I took my at-the-time 93-year-old Mum for one several years ago - the angiogram showed a narrowing on femoral artery so they put a stent in - it cured her "painful foot" immediately. She found the whole process painless, and was only kept in overnight due to her age and the lateness in the day (waiting for bed-blocking to clear) of the procedure.
If it's any help my husband has had a number of 'angiograms' on his brain and it's uncomfortable but not a 'biggie' (I think the thought of it is worse for him than the actual procedure).
OH had one put in via the arm, which was bruised black for a week afterwards and a bit uncomfortable (I am told), but healed soon enough.
Maaly...I hope it wasn't your Femoral Vein that was catheterised.......;-)...the Femoral Artery would have been a better choice.

No big deal.....done under local anaesthesia ( groin or wrist frozen).

Bit of bruising, minimal pain and home next day.
Squad ... of course you are right ....it was the one down there up to there!!! Keep getting it wrong and really should know better .... ! Old age is interfering with my brain..... sigh.
LOL......I know how you feel ;-)
