All those out there like me - what do you do - like there like a backward girl waiting for sweet dreams or do you get up. Now I don't get up but fight the bed - the pillows - and anything that comes my way.

Now that's my saying for the morning - going back to fight the barstarwards/ goodmorning and nice morning - to all those lovely morning people. g'morning JjCon

I sometimes stay up but if I do go to bed I stay there with the thought that at least I'm resting.
I have R4 on quietly and play a variety of alphabet type games with what they say or famous people with initials AA,BB etc etc.
Sometimes if I'm really awake I'll go downstairs and have a ciggy and an alcoholic drink over the back door.
The rosary is the best knockout. I rarely manage a decade before the zzzzzzz kick in.
I listen to music on my iPad, have another glass of wine and/or read until I drop off. I can't bear just lying there.
But they (whoever they are) say reading etc.. just stimulates the mind so makes it harder to sleep.
just get up, do stuff on the computer etc. (I'm not alone, so lying there tossing and turning isn't an option.) Reading's good, it might stimulate the mind but pretty soon the words start to dance in front of my eyes and that's always a sign I'm drifting off.
I'll stick with wine :-)
That's my favourite method too, ummmm.
I read "simple" books. Children's classics are good or Georgette Heyer or vintage detective fiction that I have read before.
When I wake about 3 in the morning and look at the clock my heart drops. It seems a very long time til the day starts.

hi Sandy - I am finding that too - I lay down the other day on the sofa (as I said before never in my life did I ever did I do that ) however sorta dosed and whilst I thought it was way after 7 o clock it was only after 4 about an hour later - I am finding the days very long indeed and truly if i had great health I would love to go back to work again - only for a few hours tho.

I do a lot of work in the house - but seems the hours still go by slow - in all the years I have been medically retired this has just happened recently. I feel I should be jumping here and there which I did in my day. I guess too much time on my hands.

tamborine - surely Our Lady is praying for you - Thank God for that. I have tried to do that to no avail too but the day will come
JJ...aren't you taking Diazepam during the day? That would cause you to doze on the sofa, I'm sure.
I take 5mg an hour before I want to go to bed, + I get a solid 5/6 hours...when I wake I'm in exactly the same position! x x

no my pharmacy in the surgery refused me them telling me they caused confusion, alzheimers and all kinds. sure what that would matter I am already confused etc. what difference would it make. Found two chops that I thought I put into freezer into a pots and pan drawer - wondered where the smell was coming from. dont have much jewellery and found a small packet of that in the freezer - ah well won't be long until I am in the home fiddling with the buttons of my cardigan singing it's a long way to Tipperary. LOL

by god that laddie was well trained in his job he didn't give me an inch - gave me other repeats but not the diazepam.
That makes me angry.....a pharmacist has no right to do that....he must have been acting on instructions from a doctor...:(

Question Author
yes he was acting on the instructions of the doctor - Bath - did you realise this pharmacy is acting on the surgery's premises - never heard the like of it in my life.
Question Author
also I have been advised to go to another doctor who maybe could prescribe - but I know that may never happen as your medical records go to new doctor.
JJ....not sure what you mean about pharmacy,....there's one attached to my health centre, + they have close links with all the doctors.
Could you maybe tell your doctor that you can't sleep? He may prescribe you a proper sleeping tablet...Zopiclone seems to be the most popular at the moment.....you could just take them on a need to basis,....not every night.

Question Author
no this surgery is next door to the doctors room -in the actual building and next door to the surgery is the Big Boots. Pharmacy is in the actual surgery.

zopiclone, stilnoct, zolpidem, diazapam, temazapam - all classed as Class C drugs - so it is a no no.
