I'm not sqad, but I've taken it for congestion - it's in a lot of proprietary nasal medicine.
I use it for sinus trouble or when I can`t breathe due to a cold. It`s the original Sudafed (not Sudafed cold etc which have other ingredients). Not recommended if you have high blood pressure though as it`s a vasoconstrictor (constricts the blood vessels)

I am not a fan of oral systemic drugs to treat local conditions, but if i was, then i would have no objection to it's use.

Nasal sprays are equally as effective .
When I was small I was prescribed ephedrine for asthma attacks. Not sure what pseudoephedrine is.
Jackdaw....both ephedrine AND pseudophedrine act on the bronchioles of the lungs opening them up....as in asthma........but ephedrine is more effective.
