easier now my car has been diagnosed. Definitly a timing belt and my friends dad just happens to have a spare! On the down side the drivers side spring has gone but least I can stop worrying now and get on with things.

I can't tell you how relieved I am after all the original shebang before.

Well done, queenie xx mine has just been diagnosed with some post cat lambda sensor thingy and been sorted. One thing off the list, anyway :-)
Question Author
Aww that's not so good pixie :( I do hope you get it sorted soon. I just wish I'd asked my friends brother before all this. What he doesn't know about cars isn't worth knowing
They did it there and then. It was about 40 minutes between ringing them, getting it diagnosed and corrected and getting it back home. And it was free because they have already replaced it last year. Not sure why I left it so long now. Thought it would be a lot of expense and hassle.
Excellent news, queenie, mine just got passed fit for another year, all for £35, so all is happy :))
Question Author
That's not so bad mines is going to be about £250-300. But I'm sure I can manage that :)
That's good Nibble...I have until summer before I have to endure my first round of services and MoTs
Mine should have been ok, as its just haad the engine rebuilt (cylinder head gasket on its way out), thank goodness for personal warranty, otherwise £1200+ - PHEW!!
Question Author
That's lucky then Nibble
Had the timing belt slipped do you know, queenie ?. Was it the front suspension spring that has snapped ?. Quite common these days suspension coil springs breaking.
Question Author
I don't know Tony...I think so. It would appear to be. OHs just had his repaired and the back suspension went in our old car...it's mental lol
Never seemed to hear / or get broken suspension springs up until recently, queenie.
Question Author
It's crazy though I just didn't notice until I got my car back so it happened I think whilst off road as it wasn't like that before. Could it have happened being pushed dry have had something to do with it?
I doubt it, queenie. I think that car manufactures ( except for Bentley etc ) are buying in cheaper springs ( lower quality steel ).
Question Author
Tight wads lol
Yep, cheaper parts = more profit.
Question Author
Yeah I guess but do lives mean nothing. In OH's car if he'd bumped or hit anything it could have been it apparently. Shocking how much manufacturers scrimp on things
They'd probably say it was wear and tear, queenie. I know what you mean though.
Question Author
True they would. But hey ho :)
What was the problem with OH's car, queenie ?.
Question Author
Front spring passenger side had snapped and had he bumped over something the wrong way or too hard I think it may have pierced the tyre or may have caused a spark or something. I wasn't fully listening plus he was a bit vague lol
Right I see, not good.
