Hello, just after some advice as to how best to use this. Sure many of you medical folks have experience with it?

I've been prescribed it for hidradenitis suppurativa and have two current breast abscesses and another forming.

Wanted to check I'm using it right. Can I apply it with some cotton wool pads before I have a shower then wash it off, maybe with some separate wipes so not using my usual shower sponge (massage one so rougher bits I don't want to use on that area).

If I use it out of the shower, it is enough to wipe it off with wipes after or does it need a lot more rigorous washing off?

Thanks in advance :)

Why put it on with wipes?
Pour a little into your hand and mix with a little warm water.
Massage into the affected area and then off you go into the shower. Dry the area after showering........normally....NOT rigorously.

Bob's your uncle.
I only know the procedure for Hibiscrub in general use, so I wouldn't want to mislead you but rather than wipe it off, I am pretty sure it needs rinsing.

Perhaps check with your prescriber Eve, sounds sore too.

Brilliant, thanks Sqad :)
Ignore me I posted over Sqad's more informed reply.

And thanks to you too Mamya. It is sore. I've had a little bit of a break for a while but they are coming back. Very uncomfortable.

I think I thought it was going to be a bit like some kind of foaming hand/body wash kind of thing but them someone warned me about getting it on their hands so was a bit uncertain after that, especially as the skin round those areas is so fussy.
Understood, always good to check - one thing I will say is I adore the smell of it.

I am a bit weird though.

Aww, I'd never ignore you :) I'm trying to track down some more Dettol body wash, which I've been using for a while to try and keep the germs away with the abscesses and a few bad runs with cellulitis and other skin infections.

You could get it in the pound shops for ages then it all disappeared. Luckily I'd managed to stock up but down one full bottle of it. Such as shame.
When I had to use it, admittedly quite a few years ago, I just used it in the shower as I would shower gel..but only on the affected area.

Oooh, does it smell nice? I have yet to open it. That would be a bonus from smelling like Dettol/Germolene/antiseptic spray/heat pain stuff haha!
Smells medicinal but in a nice way to me - at the moment I am sporting the whiff of Eau de Tiger Balm.

Thanks Ethandron, that was how I was hoping to use it. It's been put on my repeat and have a 500ml (?) bottle of it so hopefully that will last the month if you only use a little and it foams up with water. It's a few main areas I'm targeting.

:) I shall go have a sniff in a bit!

Right, I'm going to go eat my pizza before it goes cold :) Thanks all, I appreciate it.
Enjoy, laters.x
