My mother gets recurrent UTI and vaginal itching.
She has seen many GP's but has not had a definitive diagnosis.
So my questions are
When creams say external use do they mean just inside the vagina I did ask a pharmacist but they did not know?
What fruit juices could she drink that may prevent this?
Would she benefit from trying to do pelvic floor exercises?
She wears pads and I suspect that this may contribute to the problems.
Anything else that I may of forgotten to ask.

My mother has seen many GP's and they have never made a definitive diagnosis. I have done a lot of research and woman can suffer a myriad of problems. I think she has to bite the bullet and get more investigations.
External use means outside. It relieves the itching. It's not suppose to go inside.

Apparently cranberry juice is good for water infections.

Also natural yogurt has been recommended.
\\\\\When creams say external use do they mean just inside the vagina I \\\

Depends......almost certainly YES, but try it as one may be sensitive , particularly to the creams, but in the majority of cases YES>

\\What fruit juices could she drink that may prevent this? \\

Cranberry Juice....so they say....I don't believe it. No juices will make any difference.

/////Would she benefit from trying to do pelvic floor exercises? ///

If she has a degree of prolapse of the uterus or stress incontinence ( leaks when she laughs or coughs) then yes.......otherwise no.

\\\\She wears pads and I suspect that this may contribute to the problems.///

It might....but what is the alternative?
\\\\\When creams say external use do they mean just inside the vagina I did ask a pharmacist but they did not know? \\\\

Confusing wording.

My answer is external creams can be used inside the vagina......but try first to exclude an exaggerated reaction.
external, outside the vagina. internal. eg pessary.

Thank you all!
Has she been checked for diabetes?
Has she had any swabs done? I assume she has had urine samples sent off to a lab to check too?

Does she have a main GP she can talk it all through with in case she is just getting treated as they come rather than it being looked at as a recurrent problem?
