I had a quick look on Yahoo answers and it looks like it is the recommended treatment for certain infections.

google metronizadole 2g dose for more info.
I sometimes take a couple of antibiotics for the first dose, just to kickstart it. I wouldn't with metronidazole, which upsets my stomach, but in principle it should be possible, and if that's what the doctor said I'd go for it.

Thanks Woofgang and jno. I took them at lunch I just thought it was a bit odd 5 400mg tablets all at once. But if it's the norm for certain infections (I'll look see if mine is listed) I'll accept it. I feel fine i was just curious
toe ?
What's up, Queenie?
if in doubt about something the doctor's said you can always check with the chemist.

No not my toe (back on yet another dose of Fluclox) the lot the Hospital gave me didn't work and getting nowhere being referred for having the side of them off.

Nothing major Sib...I'll email you in the morning as it's not something I want to say on AB.

I did ask the pharmacist and he said it would be fine and if that's what the dr prescribed then that's what I was to take. I guess it's just better to be safe specially as the pharmacy don't give you the info leaflets these days

One would think that they could make the tablets five times stronger.
og its cheaper to make one or two sizes of tablet than loads of sizes. its much easier to take multiples of tablet that it is to divide one strong one accurately.
A bit late now........but that initial dose is fine.
Ah I see.
Even so if 5 of these is the "normal" dosage, it has a good bid to be one of the standard size single tablets.
its "a" normal dose OG. not common but normal
