By " acute anaemia" I assume it is an iron deficiency anaemia.
Causes?.. many.......commonest would be non malignant polyps on the colon.
Cancer is a possibility but an "outside,"
"Outsider"

Thankyou sqad I really did not have that in mind, yes cancer and many other things had entered my head.
Question Author
Polyps, no, never thought of them.
fred.....as an afterthought, it is not an unusual scenario whereby the cause of the bleeding is never discovered and the aneamia is treated by transfusion or by tablets depending upon the degree of anaemia.

Keep us informed eh!

Thankyou sqad I will keep you informed,I am really so beside myself at the moment,I am trying to be strong but on my own I just cry.Like now.
Oh Fredkins, you are bound to be worried - hope they get him sorted soon.
Mr M was diagnosed with the exact same problem, he had the camera up and down but nothing was found. He now has a yearly iron infusion.
acute anaemia is so common and has such a long list of possible causes that it really isnt possible to give a sensible opinion.

Aqad was a medical student once and he will recollect the examiners friend,
the causes of anaemia, sir are congenital acquired and in second, infectious, endocrine, metabolic....blah blah blah until the end of the oral exam or the examiner begs the student to stop.....

The best thing is for the camera results.... and good luck.
fingers crossed.
.

and so .....
what was the answer ?

Thank you everyone,we now know it is cancer, just saying the word makes me cry because my husband is a grumpy so and so but he has a heart of gold and is loved by everyone especially me.we are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in july, he has a ct scan on Wednesday to see if it has spread to his vital organs if it has not then it is an operation to remove it.
