Just a quick question to put out there. I have not had a period now for over 14 months, having my own little heat waves & weight gain, so I know that I am in the full throws of Menopause. My question is that I regularly have pains like I use to get a few days before my period. I do half expect to start bleeding again. Is this normal for some people.

\\\\ Is this normal for some people.\\\

If by normal, you mean through no medical cause....then the answer is NO it is not normal.

Many things may be the cause, but see your GP as he may want some investigations.
also feebee,....if GP suggests HRT...(which is unlikely, as it's fallen out of favour slightly these days)...don't accept. It only delays the inevitable, + you'll have to go through the flushes etc if/when you come off it.

Been taking sage leaf capsules for the flushes and they do eleviate it.
I had period like pains for a good while after mine stopped so it was normal for me too. I took Evening Primrose which really did help.
Lucky ladies, feebee + masma....glad you've found some relief. I spent a fortune on Dong Quai, Black Cohosh, Red Clover, Evening Primrose, to name but a few. The only thing I found helped the horrendous flushing was HRT, till the GP pulled the plug. After that it was just a matter of time + patience to let nature take its course. Good luck x
I never had pains, but I did have HRT for ten years - it was wonderful, I never looked back. If you are offered it, give it a go.
boxtops....did you not find it just delayed the inevitable? Did you have to go through all the palaver when you came off it? x
I have fibroids and was advised by my doctor against taking HRT as the hormone levels would make my fibroids grow. I am waiting for an operation to have them removed. Anyone else had this op? What is the recovery like?
