I'd think not and the problem is more likely caused by a badly fitting denture but when people get an idea into their head it's hard to shift.

I wouldn't have thought so either, sandy, but read the destructions leaflet included in the box or check with your friendly pharmasist to be sure. Dentures are a far more likely culprit especialy when they're getting a bit long in the tooth!! (Sorry, couldn't resist that one.)
when the idea is there ? would a suggestion of rinsing mouth out with water after the drug is taken ?

Thank you all. It's as I thought. I always make sure there's a cup of tea available after the tablets. But this reluctance to take them makes for a double dose of grumpiness. The first from the sore gums and the other from the painful hip.
is swallowing tablets out of the question sandy ?

It is, Anne. She's afraid she'd choke on tablets.
I sympathise re swallowing tablets, I find it quite an ordeal aswell.
well, sandy that's not an uncommon fear, the answer is a chocolate biscuit with the tea. good luck.
Not in my experience - I take cocodamol in soluble form quite regularly, any gum problems are from my denture, not the medicine.
