I need to transfer from iPhone 3 to iPhone 4, but am not sure whether I have backed up my current phone. If I open iTunes with the phone plugged in, I have selected 'Back up to iCloud' rather than 'Back up to this computer'. The reason I haven't backed up to this computer is because my PC is just about full (I need a new everything) and I didn't want to tip it over the edge! If I don't choose 'Back up to this computer' will I not be able to transfer my phone stuff to my new phone?
There's also 'encrypt local backup' which I have no idea what that means...

You don't need to encrypt local backup. If you have backed up your 3 to iCloud then when you start your 4 you will be asked to start with iCloud.
No need for the computer to start with at all. That was Apple's cunning plan!
