I keep getting mouth ulcers mainly at both sides of the mouth. I have used a mouthwash which i got from the chemist last month which helped but since i have used it up they have come back. I did wonder if it could be my old fillings causing this as my sister had the same problem a few years ago & had to have them removed. Also i keep getting very sharp back teeth & wondered if this was causing them? Also i have just googled the problem & i read that Betablockers could cause ulcers which i take.

May be a difficult problem to solve.
You do not describe the ulcers, but i would assume, as they are the commonest, that you are suffering from Aphthous Ulcers.........not much that one can say other than their cause is ill understood.

Stress, strain, other underlying conditions may contribute to their persistence, but i doubt whether your beta blockers are playing any part at all.

Try 1% triamcinalone in Orabase paste, rubbed on three times a day.

Good luck as treatment is trial and error.

I used to suffer from mouth ulcers, and at one time had them all over my mouth and down my throat. I read that it was possible that an ingredient in certain toothpaste could be causing me to have them, so decided to buy the most basic (and cheap) toothpaste I could to see if it made a difference. Within a couple of weeks, all the ulcers had gone and they did not return, so I can only assume that I was having a reaction to something in the other toothpaste. Might be worth giving it a try and change to a basic toothpaste for a while.
What is your choice of basic toothpaste, Jamesnan, if you don't mind sharing?
Do you get scabbing at the corners of your mouth which are sort of "honey" coloured?
it used to be a common thing at sea (merc not royal) when the fresh fruit and veg got a bit old or ran out. Dh and i used to make sure we had a multivitamin with us which seemed to help to avoid them.
