Ear ache

Woke up this morning with terrible earache, managed to get an appointment with the doctor who diagnosed an ear infection and put me on antibiotics. The pain is getting worse, have taken ibuprofen and paracetamol and they are not helping at all, anybody got any suggestions please as to what else I can do, it is driving me mad.

You didn't say if it was a middle ear infection, or an outer ear, but I guess that it would be an outer ear (otitis externa).

This may take at least 4-5 days to settle, even with the antibiotics.

For the pain, don't take less than 600mgms of Ibuprofen (3 *200mg tablets) up to three times a day for the pain. If the ear canal is not swollen, then warm olive oil my well help.

A very painful condition.
