Oh it's not for me cath, it's my youngest who's doing it next week. I was just wondering if anyone had any comments to make about it.
I agree, improving knowledge about self treatment can only be a good thing and I'm really pleased he's doing it. We just realised he's had it for twenty years now, he was ten when he was diagnosed, seems like only yesterday..
I am a Type 2 diabetic and have heard of this course and at meetings people have said that it is an excellent course. I think you could start by looking at the DiabetesUK site and see if there is an item on it.
Hi....I am type 2 and have been on the course......it was good to go and meet other people in the same boat....I am not 100% sure that I learnt anything I didn't already know.....but then I am quite savvy in medical matters.....so if you or whoever it is knows very little about the condition then they might benefit from it.
I have a son who has type 1 diabetes and as it's fairly recent to us so we've had lots of good up to date advice from healthcare workers but I've noticed for years whilst working in pharmacy that type 1 adults aren't really given any follow up training as yrs go by and are left to their own devices even if they're not very well controlled :O( . I've heard of these courses but i'm not sure what they cover but maybe you're son will learn something new from the course or the other people attending the course.
