Sqad is your man for this. Hope it's not trigeminal neuralgia as that's very unpleasant having experienced it.

That's what I was going to suggest, yogasun.....

Sorry rowan just saw your last line. I think I was prescribed (from memory)
tegretol (or something) which helped. It was cured by a wisdom tooth removal finally even though it didn't seem to be a problem. Good luck x

2 things spring to mind
1) Herpes Zoster (shingles)........so watch out for a rash.
2) Trigeminal Neurlagia ....as a poor second choice.

murray.....hi! my pet.
rowan.....no point in going to the GP yet as there will be nothing to see. I agree give it another 24 hours.
|

I have been suffering exacty the same, and after x rays right at the back of my mouth its looking like it may be down to a retained nerve/ root or sharp tooth shard deep in gum from a wisdom tooth i had out years ago, which has now after years of causing no porblem moved and is now touching a nerve cluster.Hope you get it sorted soon, i feel your pain !! :-)

My ex nurse head always imagines the worst probably taken a bit too much analgesia pain nicely dulled but brain cells more so
|
|
George231...........Bell's Palsy is painless.
Rowan has severe bout of pain.
|

If your painkillers are working, then I doubt it is trigeminal neuralgia. The pain from that is notoriously difficult to control with paracetamol, ibuprofen etc. (Not sure about dihydrocodeine, mind you , that's pretty strong.)
I think you need to see what happens over the next 24 hours then possibly visit your GP and/or your dentist.
Good luck.

Try New Era tablets from health shop,it's a biochemic remedy..no.8.

Just a thought - do you grind or clench your teeth? And when the pain occurs, does the side of your face look 'odd'? I went to my GP and Dentist with a similar, intermittent pain and had dislocated my jaw. When it realigned, it trapped a nerve. The Dentist gave me some facial movements to do and 'popped' my jaw back into position. They gave me some exercises to do to strengthen the area.
