Granddad G is troubled with pains in his legs and it is affecting his ability to walk any distance without having to stop for a rest.

He has been back and forward to the doctor and he has all sorts of tests and blood tests.

The pain is a constant ache and if he has been walking for about a mile he gets back pain in the back of his calves and his knees & thighs.

He has always been a walker and was on his feet for most of his working life.

He is on Doxasin for blood pressure; tamsilosin for enlarged prostate; aspirin to thin his blood and Omeprezole.

He has just had a Doppler test to see if his veins were blocked but that was fine. He has to go back to the Dr next week to start all over again.

I wondered if anyone else has had this problem and been able to resolve it and what was causing it is really getting him down - now that he is retired he was hoping to be walking every day

He doesn't take statins does he.
A possibility it is his med.

What Are The Different Doxazosin Side Effects?

There are many possible doxazosin side effects. I’ve listed them below:

Tiredness
shortness of breath
weight gain
headaches
swelling of hands, get, ankles or lower leg
runny nose
muscle pain, joint pain, and general weakness
decreased sexual ability
It sounds very much like intermittent claudication......an obstruction to the flow of blood in his arteries due to atheroma.

You said that the Doppler showed normal VEINS, but that test is for the arteries..........did you mishear?

It would appear that the next step is angiograms of his lower aorta and iliac arteries to exclude a blockage higher up.

Keep us informed.
