13 year old girl with stretch marks
My daughter recently showed me some stretch marks on the top of her buttocks, she says that she has them on her legs as well. They are quite pink in colour and noticable. She is not over weight in any way, but this is leading her to think that she must be. Does anyone have any ideas of what we can do to help her or make them less noticable? Advice muc appreciated. x

try bio oil. And tell her doesnt mean she's overweight, some people get it from a growth spurt, my lil sis has some on lower back from when she shot up, she is very tall

thank you both.
4getmenot, did you little sisters disappear at all or are they still visible.
Lozzylou, no she hasn't lost weight, I have been worried about her thinking she needs to lose weight so I keep a careful eye on her!
I did have some bio oil, because she suffers with acne, but she refused to use it. Think I threw it away - darn!

the trouble is kids today look at stars in magazines who have strech marks but everything is air brushed and kids think they are naturally like this.. i remember being 13 and gettin stretch marks on my boobs you could try fake tan that will help them be less noticible

I have them on the tops of my thighs and legs too from when I grew very quickly at about the same age. they are incredibly faded now so they will fade down and almost blend in, they just look nasty when they first appear.
I agree with bio oil its a fabulous product .
Get her to start looking after her skin now and it will become routine. Exfoliate daily in the shower with a buff puff exfoliator and a mositurisng body wash like Dove and when she gets out of the shower moisturise with a good moisturiser too, bio oil on the stretch marks now will definatly help them but by keeping the skin in a good nourished condition will help prevent further stretch marks.
I used a Dove mosituriser daily an intensive one to keep my skin soft and supple and it seems to work.
Hope this helps.

Sorry to butt in HJT40 but want to ask I've had white squigly lines on the inside of one of my thighs since I was a teen - is this a stretch mark? People always told me it wasn't as they were purple but I think they are. Thanks

Hi ya
Are the squiggly lines almost metalic? Silvery white? If yes then they are stretch marks. Stretch marks fade, and are often red/pink to begin with but fade to the silver/white colour. They are so much more common than people are lead to believe.. especially with magazines air brushing and using a computers to invent the perfect person!

Yes, they are more white than silvery though. I can not remember them ever being a red/purple/pink colour though! Wish they weren't there but sure you can't do anything about them. Thanks thesilentone

Hang on - I have another question! Why do I only have them on one leg? Would you not have them on both as your legs wouldn't really differ that much in size?!
|
|
|
Aww, bless her. It's completely natural.
You get them from your skin being stretched too quickly from either putting on weight or a growth spurt.
My childhood best friend and I both have them on our hips and thighs from puberty. She's always been a size 6-8 and me a 12-14 (at the time) so it's just relative to the way and how quickly your skin stretches.

|
Oh, and anyone can get them, too. My boyfriend has one large one on both of his arms, just under his biceps from when he was doing a lot of weight training in a short space of time and there's not an ounce of fat on him. :)

I shall be off to the chemists to stock up on all the goodies she will need. At least they will be there if she wants to use them!
Have a good weekend!

Hi all
You can get rid of stretch marks, broken veins etc by using the NuSkin body gel with their spa. You have to order it online as it's not available in the shops. Go to www.pangea.ironyourwrinkles.com and you'll see a demonstration of it and can order the products you choose there. I've tried it and it worked for me! Good luck.
