IPL intense pulsed light - hair reduction

I have embarrasing horrible hairs on my chin and have just started a course of this IPL. I get a treatment every 6 weeks and in between i have to cut or shave the hair (i used to pluck). I just can't bear the shaving - i have to do it everyday and am worried i will end up with a man's shaving shadow.....has anyone had this treatment? is it worth persevering? is laser removal better? Help!
