it varies depending on what the transgression involves.
Apparently Force India did it early on in the ban and only got a caution.

Thanks to you both. Just wondering !
Yesterday, Niki Lauda, when asked why didn't Mercedes go ahead and give Hamilton the information, he said that then they'd get a penalty. This suggested to me that it would be a big penalty but he didn't know what the penalty would be.
The team had judged that helping lewis would have gained him little because he was not really under any pressure at the time and could have got a 5 second penalty so helping him would not have helped if you see what I mean so they let him figure it out himself which he did.
the penalty is based on what they tell him so it could be anything from a warning to a drive through or worse. Mercedes would have had some idea of what the penalty would be based on what they needed to tell him and made the judgement based on that. I suspect Lewis will be going through all the modes again this week!
Maybe Mr H could just ask his team mate, he managed all on his own, then go back to hanging out in cool places with talented pillars of society.
