Hi all, I have medium brown short hair and put a Rich Mahogany hair dye on it on Friday night. I left it on for the exact time it stated however it turned out like a very dark plum colour which was awful. I got a Decolour Remover yesterday and followed the instructions to take the colour out. It said on the packet that it would take my hair back to its natural colour (brown) but it has left it a very light orangey colour. The packet said I can use more than one pack if there was a lot of colour build up and it wouldnt damage my hair. (I only did one application and its the first time I have died my hair for about 10 years). I have another pack to do it again but am wondering if it will take the orangey colour out and take me back to my own colour or whether it will just stay the same. Does anyone know about this type of thing? Thanks.

I'd go to a reputable hairdresser and explain.
I can't give advice in the dye but if you have to put up with it, wash it with Head & Shoulders. This is known to take the colour out of dyed hair, over time.
Am I reading right that the orangey colour is lighter than your natural colour? If so a 2nd packet will only bleach it even further. I'd either go to a hairdresser or put another dye on much nearer to your natural colour.
Please get it sorted professionally and next time do a proper strand test
