Tooth whitening

Having just come back from Canada where the well off Canadians all seem to have lovely white teeth, I am thinking of having mine done.
Has anyone had theirs done?
What does it entail and how much does it cost?

The Romans used urine and goat's milk, so if you want to DIY...

I will ask the dentist when I go next time, jno. I have an appointment in two weeks time.

Just wanted to know if others had had it done.

I had laser whitening done. It was worth it (I got it cheap as it was in S Africa £150 including a mould to use with the gel myself afterwards). I wouldnt have paid UK prices. The dentist had a set of different coloured teeth which he matched up and then matched again at the end. Apparently, I went 7 shades whiter. The result depends on how white your teeth are in the first place. You can`t get lighter than your own tooth colour. I asked him how those newsreaders in the US get their teeth so white and he said they have veneers.

Eating apples and drinking coke both whiten your teeth. As for the coke I'd just swill it round my mouth for a minute then spit it out...

Apples and coke both corrode your tooth enamel. They don't whiten, just remove staining, along with some enamel.
