I am still looking for an artist by the name of Letterman, who does huge paintings. I am particularly interested in the "Resting Cat". I still have no idea who this person is, if this is their real name, etc. I know this artist does other paintings as well. Large sailboats in San Francisco, large abstract, and geometric paintings as well. I would appreciate if anyone has any ideas. I have call several art studios with no luck. No one has heard of him, yet I know that several hundred people have one. Hhhhmmmm.
Thanks alot,

I have the Answer to your question about LETTERMAN and I also have the painting of the resting cat that  u so desire email me if u r interested.   Also he is a verry known artist but not to many people can get there hands on one to buy, usualy its handed down from generation to generation.

It is funny that you bring this picture up, because my wife and I own a picture just like this, it is a picture of a large white longhaired cat laying on what appears to be a couch, the size is 61 by 49 inches.  I've done a lot of seaching about this Letterman person as well, and have found nothing.  If you find out anything, we would love to hear it.  We were looking to sell it, but didn't really know what to price it.  Thanks.

I am looking for the same information.  I own an original oil of the "Resting Cat".  I am too interested in selling.  One of the answers posted by Moose has a link that provides a price of this painting being $35 (USD I think).  I do not personally think it should sell for this little.  If I can find more info, I get back to this thread.

Thanks!

Carlo

I too am looking for information regarding this painter. We have a geometric painting that my husband bought many, many years ago (maybe 70's) and had it hanging in his business. It has three separate framed pieces that when hung together, the pattern flows from one to the next. At one time, a customer came in and wanted to buy it. I find it quite strange that there seems to be a lot of this artist's paintings out there and yet a person cannot find information about him.

I'm just trying to keep this thread alive, because I too, am very curious about this painter.  I have a huge painting of  a sailboat in San Francisco Bay, and have wished to have more art from this artist.  I will keep searching... and watching this thread for information!

t.

Somewhere some said he got his painting from Art Master Studios in San Francisco and an address at 1355 Market Street. Below is the business that is currently at this address.

Golden Oaks Upholstery
1355 Market St
San Francisco, CA 94103-1324
(415) 553-6112

I also have cat and it looks like the one being sold on Ebay today.

If anyone finds out anyting more about letterman let me know.

Thanks

I also have a oil painting by Letterman of the Resting Cat on a couch,it was givin to me and they had it for several years which was bought at a Atlanta,Ga. Art Gallery for $700.00 at that time.I,also have been trying to find out more about this Artist,he has done alot of large canvas paintings, mine is about 5foot by 5foot.
To all, I think I can help you in to better understand why your not able to find Letterman the artist. I also have have a Letterman painting. It's a large a large painting as well. It is canvas and has a dark green background with large brown and white flowers. I am a macho kind of guy, but fell in bound to buy it when I first set eyes on it almost 30years ago. Yes I bought it new and at that time the retail was around $400 if my memory serves me. I purchase the painting at JCPenney and it was very popular then as it is now. The reason I remember is that I was a Merchandise Manager for JCPenney at the time. And Penneys sold a ton of these at the time, which is why there is still so many out there!
I still own the painting and have close to selling it many many times over the years! I too just love it and can't seem to part from and it looks as good as it did the day I purchase it!!!
So there you have it! I hope this has helped you!
Jesse
