Michael Jackson Saint or Sinnner?

Will Michael Jackson be best remembered as a musical genius, innovator, shaper of popular culture, mentor and humanitarian or as a deeply tortured man who chose to disfigure himself, abused drugs and took the bizzare and socially acceptable to grotesque extremes? fastwalker (Sat 19:10 04/Jul/09)

Mick Hucknall said what I think.

"SIMPLY Red star Mick Hucknall said he found it difficult paying tribute to Jacko because of the child abuse allegations.

Mick, 49, said: "I have to say that Michael Jackson was an extraordinary artist, a phenomenal dancer, a truly great singer."

He added: "I can only say that the one side that I have a little difficulty with is firstly as a father, and secondly as someone who was a friend of a father of a boy called Jordy Chandler.

His father was actually my dentist and a friend of mine, and that makes it rather difficult for me to expand on anything else.

"This time I'll show enough respect to respect his memory as an artist and say no more about him."

Jordy Chandler was 13 when he accused Jackson in 1993 of molesting him.

The star settled out of court with the Chandler family the following year for 13million. "

I still have my doubts about what he got up to with kids, and no matter how talented, I will always see him as a possibly sick weirdo. Thought this before he died BTW.

It is interesting that Mick Hucknall knew Jordan Chandler's father. If that is what he actually said, then he probably struck the right note....

I remember that whole time very well and although I agree that Michael's behaviour was to coin a phrase "Off the Wall", I found that of Evan Chandler equally bizzare. Who settles out of court with someone they suspect of interfering with their son? In the same way, who settles out of court with someone who accuses you of such a thing. To settle is to admit... no matter what anyone says.

The truth is probably in there somewhere and as is so often the case, in the end, the truth will out. Moreso now that Michael is dead. It is however one aspect of the Michael Jackson for which he will be remembered for all the wrong reasons....

Surely Michael Jackson will be remembered as BOTH a musical artist AND a troubled person.

If you look back at the history of the arts many great artists (in all fields) were troubled people AND great artists.

In fact it could be argued that being a troubled person HELPS you to be come a great artist. The pain and heartache and anxt drives you on.

Composers Beethoven and Thaikovsky were both troubled souls.

Van Gogh had mental problems all his life.

Brendan Behan drank himself to death.

As a very simple example look at the band Take That.

When they split Gary Barlow was goinmg to be the great solo artist, and Robbie Williams was the arrogant drunk.

But Gary was happily married, and rather boring, and his solo career soon finished.

Robbie was troubled, but this drive him to produce interesting music and rocketed him to solo stardom.

So Michael will always be a mixture of the great pop artist, and the child in an adult body who never grew up.

According to a member of staff who was told to keep quiet, he DID do unmentionable things with young boys. I think Michael was a legend in his own time, but troubled or not, there's no excuse for THAT.

I think he will be remembered for his talent, but I really do wonder why the subject of his alleged paedophilia is so glossed over by the media.

Children who were interviewed regarding those claims were able to describe his genitals in detail.

Jacko, whacko and SICKO, methinks.

I will remember his as a troubled genuis who had no childhood.
I wonder about all the kids of rich parents and kids who were stars in their own rights, why were there no acusations of child abuse from this group? Probably because the did not see doller signs in Michaels eyes.

I am sure he was a kid himself in an adult body. He seen them as his equals.
