I had completely forgotten about that.
I don't know Tilly, but I became expert at it ;0)
I loved that job.
Actually I do know, the over of the book was always covered in graffiti ... who you fancied ... with a few hearts!!
I remember, it looked awful but all my friends were doing it.
.. cover ..
Yeah I remember that, my mom did mine.

So did I, Mamya. I used to cut proper corners and everything!
Remember it well and hated anything like that - I was so untidy nothing every looked right -My Christmas parcels still look as though they've been flung down the chimney.
I remember it as a fad not something the school made us do
I used to cover mine with david Essex and donny osmond posters from Jackie magazine

I'm sure that when we were issued with new exercise books we were told to cover them, Prudie. I may well be wrong though.
Yes we had to do it too, it wasn't optional.
We were asked to cover them, probably to cover up all the graffiti and protect them from getting torn.
Sounds a ridiculous thing to do now.

That pile of thirty six books must have been heavy when the teacher lugged them home.
Maybe my mind is playing tricks then. I recall the ultimate covering for exercise books was clear sticky back plastic.

No, never did that, was it a girly thing?
Can I ask the age of everyone on this thread? I'm nearly 58.
I think it was a fad at my school. A bit like when we first learned cookery and we had to have a basket with a twee little cover over it. For a while we used to take our books to school in the baskets. My friend and I had a lot of fun pushing them off the shelves in the cloakroom at lunchtime but I won`t say anything about that.
