what on earth is over-exaggeration? One more word there than is really necessary.

OK. Hyperbole is a standard literary term for over-exaggeration. Wish I hadn't bothered in the first place.

Jack. Much love to you my friend
Give up Peeler, some people can communicate effectively using words of more than two syllables.
Question Author
Exactly ozzy, SOME not ALL so I am guessing it would be more sensible to make how you speak understandable by all.
Now you are all teasing me. You want to know how many long words I can put in a single sentence. I shall sleep on it, and if I am granted serendipity I shall respond the morrow.

Good night Jack, and it's all just a bit of friendly banter please don't be offended fella.
Offended? Moi?

Good point Peeler, you could make the suggestion that posters should be limited to using words of one syllable, or maybe two in exceptional cases.

The Editors Blog would the perfect place.
You may have a point. I was using it as an intensifier but perhaps it was tautological and otiose.
He'd have made more of a point had he known where to draw the line. Tacit is a five letter word. No one in their right mind could consider it long. And I'd expect it to be known by most English speakers and used by many. There is a difference between using inappropriate words and dumbing down. Especially when communicating with trainee teachers, or whoever it was.
Go 4nic8.......hahahaha
Why use a big word when a minuscule synonymous substitute will suffice perfectly in conveying the intended substance of the message.

Stuey I concur and agree with how eloquently you have articulated your vocabulary at this juncture.
tsa bit long
use short words so your listeners doan get tired or anyfing

nuff said right ?

inchoate means incomplete - it has a technical meaning in law ( inchoate offences ) right ?

and at the very very end right
the presenter realises that in teaching kidz right one might use a different set of words than one would when talking to other teachers right about teaching.

which kinda get us right to the point that in certain circumstances groups of people use a specialised sets of words which may be understood within the group right but not outside the group ( = jargon )

wow

Ja, gone...
