What would I use to paint my outside gas meter housing cover. BH left a battery sitting on it and now it looks as if it is rusty!?

Car spray paint.

I personally use Hammerite paint for exterior jobs like that. Never had a problem.

I used the same outside paint I used to paint the house, weathershield exterior.

Give it a good sanding down first if it has gone rusty.
