What Do People Think Of When They Hear The Term 'northern Design'?

Doing some research on Northern Design....I just wanted to get peoples initial thoughts when they hear that phrase? It can mean anything you like theres no right or wrong answer. There is no definition on what Northern is in the phrase either so it could mean anything.

I can't say that it means anything to me, I've not heard the expression. If you said Scandinavian, or Rennie Mackintosh, that's very specific.
My initial thoughts are that it means nothing to me. When I gave it some consideration and I thought of an engineering firm in Bolton.
