Yes download the Kindle app from Apple Store (free) and sign in with your Amazon details and there's all you have from Kindle on the iPad mini.

Thanks for your answer. It looks suspiciously simple.

I am not sure if the iPad is 'better' than the Kindle Fire or just different. :)
It's in colour and the page-turning is awesome! But not in sunlight...the Kindle screen can't yet be beaten for that.
Sorry I misread your post... The Kindle Fire is perfect if your an Amazon customer.

I have the Kindle Fire and mainly use it in bed at night to do 'grown up stuff like playing games on.

I have now won an iPad (mini I think) and am just trying to work out what to do.

My PC died on me but I am using my MacBook (another win!) at present.

LUCKY YOU! what's your secret?

Transferring the books to the iPad is very easy with the Kindle app but the music transfer is something Ive never heard of.
If you can transfer your Fire music to iTunes on your MacBook it should be easy to load the iPad.

The music (not much as most of it is on the dead PC) on the Kindle has been downloaded from Amazon after I purchased the CDs. I think that it is in some cloudy thingy.

Maybe I will wait until I get my new toy first. I won the Kindle last year but I would not have considered purchasing one. I don't enjoy reading from the Kindle but have downloaded a few books that were free.

I usually enter money or gadget competitions. Over the last couple of yours I have won:-

Sun Newspaper - won MacBook and iPod

Cat food company - Kindle Fire, got about 18 months ago.

Daily Mail - my new toy. I think that it could be a mini iPad

Some computery magazine - an iPad Air, just a couple of months ago.

Wi-fi printer a couple of years ago.

Cat toys - totally ignored by the cats and given to PDSA.

It is a hobby - I am not obsessed like some, but I do use a free competition website

You can get a kindle app for the iPad. Your books are in the cloud if you got them via Amazon, so you just download to new device.
Saw the last bit. You can get an app for the music too. I also use my kindle at night but to watch Amazon tv and films. So I have been told, it is welded to my hand...
