The AB Reading group - the fun starts soon ...

Suggestions in this thread for genres for future monthly book selections please.

Restrain your enthusiasm to just one or two ideas per person please - but feel free to repeat/endorse other people's selections so that we have an idea of what will be popular.

I'll choose the first genre after this weekend and then the June timetable of suggestions/poll/reading will begin at the end of next week.

We can refer back to this thread for future genre choices.

For late arrivals at the Reading Group Ball, the details are here :

Ah has that one been decided on for first one then?
Hoe so sophie - ready to go
Don't think its been officially selected just the bookworms getting excited about something new... mines arrived
Mine has arrived, are we tracking stats like the number of giggles and lol moments?
Bit confused now, have we decided on the Ed's suggestion or are we still open for others?
Not many posts seem to respond to the OP's request for GENRES.

Restraining my enthusiasm, I humbly submit :-

1. Classic Fiction

2. Biographies
Oh sorry :S

my suggestions for genres and types:

1. Ghost Stories
2. Seconding: Crime/Detective novels (not read much straight crime/detective stuff)

We've not decided what's being read yet - I think some have just jumped the gun a bit (or maybe just love a bargain)!
Maybe once in a while have a recommended reference book that some have found useful i.e Ten Great events in History
Historical fiction
forensic crime thrillers
real book and its parody eg the Hobbit and the Soddit
Are we going with The Yiddish Policemen's Union then? I've got it added to my basket on amazon if so.

Hold your horses CD - the idea is for me to pick one of the genres suggested for the first month and then invite specific book suggestions.

Then next week (assuming that we get more than one suggestion) the Ed will do a poll to choose the book.

< but I quite fancy reading The Yiddish Policemen's Union anyway >
Will someone please answer my question? Depending on our enthusiasm for the book choice of the month (or whatever time period we're allotted to read the chosen work) can we duck in and out of this gang? I quite fancy 'The Yiddish Policemen's Union', but other suggestions might not be so tempting.
Question Author
There is no 'membership' or pressure to read the chosen book. That's the whole point really.

If you choose to read a book then there is the chance to discuss it with others after the month has ended - if one month's book doesn't appeal then another book will be along next month.
Thanks Dave. Count me in. :o)
Sorry I've confused it a bit Dave :S
So what's happening? Has a book been agreed upon - or am I missing something?
