What exactly do you want ? I am a Latinist. But don't ask me for recommendations for tattoos.

We said huius throughout, huic throughout, hoc, hac ,hoc.
We recited it for all three genders.
Wasn't that possibly the most boring time in your life ?
It was in mine....and I'll never get those hours back.
I agree. I've been trying to remember my Latin teacher's name. She was a Miss..... grey hair scraped back, glasses. sticky out teeth, beige thick stockings and bad breath. What was her name???
But very useful
helps navigate many of the intricasies of the english language
Don't know and can only remember the nicknames of the 3 (yes, count them three) Latin teachers I had over 5 years of tedium. Why oh why did I agree to it ? Only got a C in the end anyway. Sigh.

Plug, Noddy and Basher by the way....there was also a Beaky, but I was never taught by him.
Same here ladyalex - but that was the minimum requirement for reading English at the uni of choice

i suspect things have changed in 40 years
Miss Brewster!!!!!
I'm sure things have changed in the last 40 years.
In my day (Scottish Highers) you needed a Higher English, an O grade modern language and an O grade in either Maths or Arithmetic as minimum requirements for any Higher Education course....and that was before the specific entry requirements of whatever course you wanted to do.
I remember the gymnasts in particular really struggling to get their minimum requirements for Gym College.
Well done Chrissa!
Lol LL.
Until the early sixties O Level Latin was a must for entry to Oxford or Cambridge, irrespective of the subject to be studied. It was when that requirement was dropped that the study of Classics in schools began to decline, hasted by the onset of comprehensiviastion. Ladyalex may regret the five years thus spent but I feel that my education would have been considerably poorer without it.
I agree with mike. I never did spectacularly well at it and dropped it when I got to university, but it was great in teaching me how languages work.
This is a great free site, sometimes the translations are a bit questionable but very good for free;
