Ok, this might not be the right section for what I'm after but can anyone reccommend any books I can get my Dad for the 'libarary'.

I don't want a proper novel, more after fun books that you can just pick up and read a little bit of.

For example I was looking at the Grumpy Old Men book but it didn't get very good reviews.

the times letters compilations are quite good
As are clarksons books as they are in short stupid bites
Noting where it is to be stored, maybe a book of crosswords might be useful.

I like the look of them 2sp but I don't think he'd really get it. There doesn't seem to be much writing in them?

Rowan, would you have any idea how I could find the Times letters book?
Question Author
By the way, I realise I spelt library wrong :)
I think Waterstones sell them

Do you know what they are called though? I tried Amazon but nothing comes up.

Ah, I think I've found one now Rown, called 'I Rest My Case' although it's letters to the Telegraph that never got published.

Found a couple of others by some bloke called Bob Servant which I think my Dad might like too.
This series is great - specially written for the purpose, but be warned, Dad will discover amazing new facts & will bore you silly...

The Far Side. Private Eye.
Question Author
Longer than is normally considered socially acceptable.
Question Author
Oh damn it! He loves Far Side (was trying to find him a calendar but think they stopped making them) and Private Eye. He's going to end up with 50 books at this rate!
Simon's Cat; Evil Penguins, love these types of books and was going to say Far Side ones too!
Rogers Profanisaurus from "viz"
Short letters...some very amusing :-)

Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation
If you want to learn some good French (not school but street language, slang, swear words, positions etc), "La Merde" (there are 2 vols)....
A prime example of a funny book you can just pick up and read a little bit of. It contains so much that when you've finished it you can just go back to the start again...
