Scientists in North pole discover phytoplankton in seas dying, rapid deterioration in environment across the planet. red weed? filling the oceans. New life forms (like adepose) trying to survive by digesting humans? Follow the scientist and his family trying to inform the authorities, who don't listen til it's too late, . Epilogue looks at him again 50? years later

I read something similar to this years ago, it was called Dust but I cant remember the author

sorry it cant be that cos it was written in 1998, good book though (Charles Pellegrino was the author)
