With the intervention of Russia in Syria, and a close call described in the thread in Society and Culture, has the King Of The North now begun his march South, as prophesied in the Bible?

Everybody knows that Sean Bean, (with Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie and a bottle of Henderson's Relish, brandished with furor), is the King of the North - well, Sheffield anyway.......

Possibly - but there are a whole lot of interpretations so I will wait a bit before deciding.
You clearly haven't caught up with the latest book yet. The King of the North was murdered at the Red Wedding.
Surely the king of the north is Santa Claus ?
Ezekiel 38? Prince of Rosh?

Interesting.

Would you care to elaborate on this particular biblical prophesy? Right now it's a little vague. Please fill in the blanks for us - specifically, how will this conflict pan out in the short term and in the long run? Be specific please.

Prophesies are not prophesies if they're not specific.
No !...next question please !
Not possible. Robb Stark was quite clearly killed off by the evil Carr-Stark clan in season 2 and his only close contender, Stanis Baratheon, was killed at the end of season 4.
Seriously, I think Game of Thrones has an equal strength of story to your source, Theland.
Theland, does this presage 'the end of days'?
Should we be worried? What must one do to be saved?
I think this is what Theland may be referring to.

//And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.// Daniel 11:40

I assume he thinks Russia is the King of the North. I’m not sure who he thinks the King of the South is.

Well Queen of the South is a scottish football team, so king of the south must be a bloke from Dumfries.
In the books, Mosaic, Stannis is still alive (or at least his fate is uncertain, though one enemy claims his death), at the end of the fifth and so far last. So who knows? Maybe the king in the north means the leader of the Wights?
...and maybe Jon Snow isn't dead!

It's so gripping.
I think I like the books better, but the TV series has been very well produced.
I've just finished my first read-through of the current books. Haven't seen much of the TV series yet though.

So Armaggedon is going to involve chariots and horsemen???
Thought there might have been a tank or two at least?
That's the trouble, with prophecies. They can only extrapolate so far. No mention of drones either.
I can only assume that Theland comes from the same stable as Goodlife.

Any chance you could elaborate on your claim about biblical prophesy? It's been 24 hours since I first requested more information from you.

Assuming that you're not going to present us with a single shred of proof that your quote has any meaning in today's world, I am going to assume certain things. First, the phrase "King Of The North" does not allude to Russia. As the bible was written in approximately 200 AD by people living in the Middle East with little or no knowledge of the world north of Southern Europe, it is highly unlikely that the existence of the entire Eurasian continent would be known to them. Russia, as we understand it today, would be completely unknown.

So what "North" is the bible referring to? Most probably Turkey. Given that biblical writers were extremely parochial (evidenced by the Noah story, in which the animals being taken onto the Ark all lived within a stones-throw from the Middle East. No mention of any creatures from Australia, the Americas, Russia, The Arctic, Antarctic, etc. are mentioned) it is more than likely that when referring to "the North" they are speaking about a very small geographic area.

Turkey is my bet. That's where the immediate threat was - the Roman Republic.
//No mention of any creatures from Australia\\

Really?

The animals went in two by two

The elephant and the kangaroo

And they all went into the ark

For to get out of the rain.
^ Hmm. I'm not sure that's an entirely accurate biblical quote.

Aha! Oh, hang on, that's Alan Partridge.

Hurrah! ;-)
