Isn't it heartening to see some of the good people of N Ireland take their bible so seriously?

Lovely sculpture - wonder what the thieves will do with it?
Question Author
If it had been metal it would probably have gone to a scrapyard. As it's mostly fibreglass I've a feeling it might be dumped in the sea. Fitting end for a sea god.
Six foot?

Why would anyone go to the bother of stealing a statue (it looks impressive) that probably can't be sold on.

It's Irish!
Question Author
It wasn't as impressive as the Bamayan Buddhist statues in Afghanistan which were destroyed by the Taliban but the thinking is the same. Bigotry and stupidity guide the iconoclasts.
What is this? Religious censorship by way of theft!?
At least they only nicked the statue, they didn't slaughter the sculptor.
Question Author
They left a clue, in the form of a crucifix, which indicates that it wasn't just theft.
I assumed that this was some sort of "confiscation" conducted by radical left-footers.
(that's 'radical' as in extremist, not good skateboarders)
Question Author
The crucifix might indicate Catholics but it might be a red herring.
Wrong, AP. Left footers have no problems with statues. This smacks to me of Presbyterianism of the most strict kind.
...aha, the thot plickens.
The usual hypocrisy, Thou shall not steal (unless it suits my purpose).
Isn't it heartening to see some of the good people of N Ireland take their bible so seriously?
---------------
Unfortunately, I cannot take seriously someone who takes the bible seriously.....
Vulcan, :o)
...as for coveting thy neighbour's ass, I can never decide whether it's UK or US spelling.
Mind you, Binevenagh is a beautiful mountain that could probably do without fibreglass statues
Blackadder, I think you'll find that coveting your neighbour's anything is frowned upon. ;o)
BTW, the verb form after thou is shalt, not shall.
Might it not be someone's idea of a great wheeze ? Not a Limavady University nearby is there ?

May find it dumped in a ditch somewhere if the situation gets too 'hot'.
