Fountain pens

..anyone still use them ?
One of the schools I went to insisted that we *had* to use them.
Being a bit of a gadget freak, I quite liked them and had Platignums, Stypens Schaeffers etc when I was at school.
I have re-discovered my Parker 45 and even managed to find a bottle of Parker "Quink" and I'm quite enjoying this personal revival :-)

hi sara, is that the one that you can take on a plane ? ( something to do with the ink being seal in i think ) if so, i have not tried it, but my brother raves about it :-)

I have no idea.. I didn't think taking fountain pens on planes would be an issue!

I had a box of 10 or 12, people try mine then pinch one out of the box, lol.

Yes ,I'm a big fan too I have two Parkers and my pride of collection is an American Scheafer,I also have various 'Mickey Mouse', pens that I've picked up along the way some as cheap as 85p! Write on all you REAL-Inkers, always remember 'the pen is mightier than the sword!' in Spanish a fountain pen is 'La Pluma' and a Biro -el Boligrafo

i think its a leaking issue that puts people off taking them on flights.I can understand people pinching your pens lol, i find i can write so much neater with them, and its actually a pleasure to write, rather than a quick scribble, which is what i do with biros :-)

Have a fine nib pen for form filling and an italic nib pen for writing to friends and family.
Hence two different styles of writing and an illegible signature.

I am about to buy a fountain pen after many years in the wilderness. As a child I won prizes for my handwriting, but anything written with a biro looks awful.
