The spam posts are removed as soon as possible but if no mods are around or the Ed is in bed there is nothing that can be done. We need to report them as soon as we see them. I don't know whether the posters get banned/suspended or are allowed to continue. They should be banned straight away. Maybe they reappear under slightly different name.

It's amazing that he/she posted 19 separate spam posts in the space of one minute!
I assume he/she opened AB 19 tabs, pasted the answers in, then submitted them all almost simultaneously. Or maybe it's an automated process. Anyway, I thought AB restricted users from posting more than maybe 5 posts in a few minutes

I think this ad appears most mornings, with the poster's name changing.
Some options:
1. Put the link ( http://zzb.bz/LNmmL ) in the AB swear filter so it automatically changes to something else
2. Restrict new users to more than say 3 posts in the first hour
3. Don't allow any new user accounts to be set up between midnight and 3.00 am.

They get banned quickly enough I think. We usually look to have a within-30-minute response to most reports. As you didn't report these spammers you've got little reason for being "Outraged-From-South-Africa" :)

I am fairly sure that factor30 reported the unwelcomed poster before I did; because, within two minutes of my posting a complaint, all entries were removed; not just the one which I had drawn attention to.

There's no doubt that factor30 has his finger on the pulse of AB and, if he is Not a Moderator, I think the Ed should offer him the chance to be one.

madiba, if you're suspicious of a irrelevant/spamming post, then anyone can report the thread/post for consideration to the Ed by pressing the report button in the right hand corner of all posts. This flags up that an AB user has an issue with that post & Ed in all his guises can look at & make a decision as to whether to (a) pull the post, (b) pull the thread, (c) suspend the user, or (d) ban the user. This is a self-regulating site (in the main), and with the input from all the users will become harder for the spammers to infiltrate, as long as we all participate in looking for & reporting spamming as it occurs. :)
