Went to see the Diabetic Specialist Nurse/Midwife. She is lovely - I have seen her in the past and she's scared the life out of me but in all honesty she isn't all that scary after all.

She was giving me information to guide me to getting my Diabetes under control ready to start a family. She announced she would need to do bloods. I said ok but I am not the easiest person to get blood from. She said oh well we shall get Denise to do it (Denise used to be a nurse but is now a specialist nurse also). I had to laugh as just as we were about to get going my Specialist Nurse comes in to have a chat with me and the other 2 nurses - she paused and said 'it's like a party in here' to which I replied 'yeah it is and my birthday isn't for another 6months'. Sadly I wasn't up for draining today. Both arms and hands nothing was flowing. So have to go to the Phlebotomist next week.

BUT...she was impressed at how well I've come in 2 weeks since I was last at clinic - she has no worries I won't get myself back on track. She's even got me agreeing to get my ranges to 5-7 which before I'd never have been comfy to agree to. Was always happier 6-9.

I'm just really chuffed because I know I can do this and I know I will.

Thank you Butterbun, Patsy and Grasscarp!

I'm sure it will but got a wee bit of work to put in first. But it will be good.

Me too Patsy...but my tummy is still bothering me but I am back to normal other than that.

Thanks Grasscarp...if only you'd seen me when I got home and saw what the neighbours garden was - upbeat doesn't cover it but I got over it and I'm back on cloud 4.5 xx
Sorry they had trouble getting your blood queenie. It sounds as if you are doing good work, well done.

Queenie - it takes the right nurse who can take blood.

Friend was telling me a cuppla months ago she had to go for a scan. They tried to take her bloods twice outside the scanning room. Said that they were only allowed to try twice. she went into scan room. And promptly the nurses were able to take her blood with ease. I find that too.

I had a nurse years ago tried to take my blood after eating a packet of salted crisps. Jesus I said to myself is it any wonder that I have sodium problems. Hope you get sorted out soon Queenie.

I apparently have deep veins so they aren't near the surface. I have 2 but they can only use one. Denise is usually very good JJ, she's got it out of me before. But it didn't help I was a bit cool so that played a part. Not to worry though Marval, there's always next week. What got me was I did it unaided - no iPod just chatting and breathing - I'm so much better at this now too!

Redruth...after last year it's been my mission this year to get back on track just didn't expect it to be so quick plus I've had all and sundry thrown at me too but I'm doing good!
under 10 - well done

one of my tenants used to wander around with twenties
I wondered how he functioned at any level to be honest

Thanks PP

Depends on what sort of a day I'm having depends how I function. The higher I am the harder it is to function but if I drop and come back to normal level I struggle to function after that.
Well, a good report - keep it up Queenie, well done x
Keep smiling Queenie ;-)
Fabulous news. Sending you a huge hug xx
