I've never seen a lapwing, so I envy you Toes.
Maybe you've seen them wothout realising, they are often in large groups on ploughed fields etc in winter.
They are lovely to watch. Used to see loads in the Lakes, but less so recently.
I don't think so Prudie, I like my bird watching. I don't live in the country or near farmers fields.
You may know them as "Peewits" because of their call.
OK sorry chapta, they are quite common round me although their numbers have dwindled over the last few years.
and Green Plovers Graham.
No probs Prudie. I will look out for them though whenever I go for drives in the country. I really want to see them now !
Just googled a pic of them, they are lovely aren't they ......
Bird watching for me at every opportunity but can`t remember when I last saw a lapwing.
Prudie, you are correct. We used to call them plovers when I were a lad, but there were many species of plovers we ended up calling them peewits

Chaptazbru, I do hope you'll be lucky I was real please yesterday. They may well be common in other parts of the country but they certainly are not round here.

Going back for another walk in that area now, so fingers crossed.

Lost of Kestrel also around yesterday.
Thanks Toes. I saw four buzzards by the way when out walking in local park with doggie the other day. They were gliding around some very tall trees and sometimes landing. Great to watch.

I hope to see some lapwings soon.
