First Swifts arrived this evening, 7 days earlier than last year, dispite the weather!

Wow - wonderful - where are you, toes? ours usually arrive about 8th May.

I'm in Hants boxtops, they arrived last year on 7th May. Tonight its just the one, safly tuckec up in the eves. Will keep you up to date with when the rest arrive. Love em
How lovely for you but that means mine will be leaving. :(. I have been in Australia for the pst two months so when I get back to Zim.. Next week my birdies will be heading off nd winter will close to hand.
I saw several yesterday, they arrived last year 23rd April i live in gloucestershire. have'nt heard cuckoo yet
That's lovely...they usually arrive for my birthday (this weekend) but some years it's been around the 10th.
The first swallow appeared in my local park last Friday and now there are loads of them !

That's a Swallow Murry! But do wonder if the rest have got caught up in bad weather crossing the channel
Loads of 'em here in SW France, they've been here for about a week. Saw the first hoopoe a couple of days ago

swift..swallow ???..not the same thing ??? excuse my ignorance in matters ornithilogical...
I expect the single one has sent a message to the others to let them know to stay where they are for a few more days.

Swifts and swallows are different birds, murray.... we're still waiting here in Kent, but the weather's not exactly been encouraging.

At last, about 7 more Swifts arrived last night, to keep poor "singleton" company.

So "singleton" arrived early, the other 7 or so late, blinking weather, must be so confusing for them!
