Sue Ryder Bird Quiz

Can't work out two questions - they are both cryptic but with no clue as to how many letters - i) Vertical Chicken ii) Horse of the Wood - the answers are birds who live or visit the UK. Please help I am desperate.

Thanks Jules - now I just need the one answer to Vertical Chicken - all I can think of is a dead one - but that's no good to me - ha ha.

1. Think it's Hen Harrier the latter word being a vertical take off jet plane.
