Does anyone own a labradoodle

Am looking to get a dog and wondered if anyone can advise me about this 'breed' We had a gorgeous border collie for 17 years and I feel now I could give a loving home to another dog and it's taken me a long time to get over losing my Jade.Generally interested in temperament and general opinions. Many thanks.

Personally I don't like the breed in this country, I suppose it depends on what you want from a dog. If you want a crossbreed, then this is one, for which you will pay big money. You are better going to the dogs home and giving a needy dog a home.
If you want a pedigree dog, then research the breeds and pick one you really like.
I've had working labs for years, if you can put up with the bin raiding and occassional loss of sandwich etc, they are a superb pet and good with all the family.
But gaain, check out what you are getting, a lot of breeds now are riddled with genetic problems, so be careful.
Best of luck.
I have bavarian mountain hounds, they are gorgeous but only about 80 in the country,

I like lambs and they look like lambs. Also the added bonus, is that they don't shed like other dogs.

Well labradors are generally good natured, and standard poodles, IMO, are very intelligent. But.....these are a crossbreed, and I think that breeders are exploiting these dogs for monetary gain only, and are no better than a BYB.

Question Author

Thanks to you all.I do want to rescue a dog and have seen a 12 month old labradoodle who needs a new home due to a family split.I don't want to get a puppy so am looking to give an unwanted dog a home,I am just terrified of visiting a rescue centre because I may come home with them all! I am so soft on animals you would never believe it! I am doing lots of research and taking things very slowly. Thanks again.
