(21:08 on Sun 10/Dec/06) In addition to Lonnie's post, pheasant chicks eat insects, almost exlcusively until about 6 weeks aold. Here in the western U.S. we leave several row of wheat, oats or barley for pheasant forage in the fall to see them through the winter months. They also eat lots of weed seeds, especially Kochia, as well as grass seeds... (I've not actually seen them scratch for worms, but I wouldn't doubt that they do)...
