My Ragdoll Louie is 9 months old. He is adorable and has the sweetest nature. He has a habit of sucking my earlobe, especially when he is sleepy, purring very loudly. I dont mind at all but someone told me I should discourage it. He obviously gets comfort and pleasure from this and I'm his substitute mummy. What do you think?

I think someone is a twit, and it's not you.
If you don't mind and he obviously doesn't then I can't see it's a problem.
If your cat likes, and you like it, where's the harm in it?
Let him do it if you're happy with it, he won't do it forever, he's only a baby x

It's not as nasty as licking eyelids when you are sleeping - seriously creepy way to wake up us humans.

Enjoy your boy - he obviously likes you ☺
I think it's lovely. What is this person's concern - that he'll become a boob man? :-)

Thanks everyone for your answers. If he's happy so am I. Ragdolls are especially affectionate and soppy so I guess its just another trait of this breed. Awww!
I had a kitten who used to suck my neck. He stopped doing it as he got older.
I think it's adorable. And to get that affection from any animal is a privilege on top of the unconditional love they offer anyway. I think you are lucky to have the cute wee thing offering such affection, we had a cat who was complete opposite of what you describe so lucky YOU!!!!!
awwwwwww.. cat kisses ...
The ONLY way to really get along with a cat is to let him/her doing exactly what he/she wants, whenever he/she wants to do it!
C'us their gonna do it anyway ;-)
Hi Chrissie. We have 2 Ragdolls. A large white male, he's not affectionate at all unless he wants something..He's so laid back it's amazing. The small female is devoted to the old man and has separation anxiety if he's not around. She follows him just like a dog. If Louie's happy and you're happy, not a problem x
