I noticed this growing at the base of a tree stump in our yard today. It seems to have sprung up out of nowhere. Does anyone know what it's called and is it harmful? http://tinypic.com/r/2lncs5j/9

If in doubt, leave it out. No reaching for that pan.

Could be any number of a vast range of fungi.
I guess its living on the roots of the old tree stump, from what I can see of it looks dead, so its helping it to decay by feeding on the dead roots.
i don't know what they are but i would ignore anyone suggesting that you fry them up for your breakfast

Don't even think about eating wild fungi unless you are an expert

I used that site to check and although I'm not sure I'm thinking maybe it's called Honey Fungus

Yeah snags, I gave it a listen during the week and just listened again on your link. Methinks the jury is out for now. It's not blowing my socks off. Can't wait for me album though. Roll on August.
