I have been watching the above since it started, and he & his practice
are amazing in saving the lives of peoples pets, that otherwise might be put to sleep.

I have never heard throughout the series, how much these operations cost, or if its the owners insurance for the dogs.
Anybody any idea how much, for replacement metal legs, or other major surgery?

Well I can tell you that my friend recently enquired about taking her dog go see him and his price for an initial consultation (plus scan) was not £200 or £300. You can add another 0 that.
*to that*
I know several people who have been with their dogs and it was mostly covered by their insurance company. One who had to pay it cost her over £6000
Very expensive, but people with dogs in particular should have them insured. I know Noel has paid for the odd operation himself and there are several ways to pay, in instalments etc
I read it was £1k for the initial consultation when referred through from your own vet. He has an enormous staff on duty at all times 365 days of the year and never closes. He is a world leader in prosthetics for animals so you get what you pay for.
Worth every penny really. He's a genuis.
Remember though he is not just a normal vet practice - he is a referral, with specialist equipment and staff that most other vets can only dream of. He is also a very clever businessman, and has just opened a separate cancer treatment centre. He has also recently bought the rights to the National Pet Show, held at Excel and NEC and they take thousands in entrance money and trade stand fees.
His business runs on a multi-million pound overdraft!
I can see why a hip op costs over £4,000: there is an MRI scanner, a CT scanner, a hydrotherapy pool, an underwater treadmill, three operating theatres, an isolation ward…

‘Fitzpatrick Referrals has a multimillion-pound overdraft, ’he says. ‘Every single time I make some money I ask for more because progress is essential. If I die in debt it means I’ve lived a life worth living. Who wants to die in profit? You can’t take any of it with you!’
I love watching this, and you can see he clearly loves animals.

Dave.
Webbo his love of animals just shines out of him doesn't it. That's what makes him so special, besides how clever and successful he is of course;-)
You can see how upset he is sometimes and how pleased when the animal starts walking and running again.

Dave.
Pete-the-Vet on facebook says that Vets have the highest rate of suicide of all professions. It is hard work.
Wolf, I think hes a workaholic and pretty much lives at the practice.

Dave
Wolf do you know why that is? The high suicide rate I mean.
Ladybirder - this is an old article but it should be reliable. I always thought that Vets would be happy people working with animals.

Dave - he seems to be a caring guy who is passionate about his work. I just hope that he doesn't burn himself out.
I wondered if it's the abuse they see??? Wolf did you mean to post a link @ 7.38?

Not correct, Doctors have the highest, Vets are not even in the top 10!
I would tend to agree with trt though I don't know for sure. It is definitely an amazing programme. I watched him being interviewed once and he said he was single because no woman would put up with him being so devoted to his job - he practically sleeps at the practise!
Ladybirder - sorry I was still half asleep and in bed when I posted.

TWR - this is another article about suicide. Pete is mentioned and quoted in the article. I know that it was said that doctor's had a high rate of alcoholism amongst their ranks.

No apology necessary wolf and thank you for the links.
