I heard a cuckoo today. Surely it's way too early?

I think it's a bit early, jajaj
Sorry to sound patronising cos I don't mean to be, but could it have been a dove or a pigeon ? I know some people have been fooled by those birds before? It is too early really.

We are inundated with collared doves but I know the difference. I'll keep listening. We have no houses around and it sounded like a cuckoo to me.
They're still on their winter holiday in The Congo

I haven't heard a cuckoo in years, let alone this early.
You must be cuckoo !
Have your neighbours celebrated Christmas in Switzerland ?
I just had a couple fly past at 200mph. Their boom box rattled the windows, eventhough I'm a fair way from the street.

I think I may have found the solution. We have a large number of blackbirds in the front garden and I suspect one of them is mimicking a cuckoo. We had one in the garden in Cumbria before we moved that could mimic my mobile phone ringtone. Nearly drove me mad
Cloody buckoos, wake me up, pesky things...
Shoota, you seem to be a bit disgruntled this evening. What's the matter?
Disgruntle...
Datgruntle...
All the riddy gruntles...
It's starlings that mimic rather than blackbirds. I once had one that mimicked me calling my cat in all the time. Even the neighbours thought it was me..
Starlings are the birds that mimic. They are brilliant at it.

I prefer you disgruntled.
But 'Peter Pan Goes Wrong' is cheering me up. (BBC 1)
Pure, brilliant stupidity...
Football on here. :-(
Am now lessgruntled, a must for 'catch up'.
I'll have a word, thanks.

Glad the gruntles have disappeared.
