not necessarily; it depends how they're treated and what they're expected to do.
Without question.
Not a comfortable question. I feel that a circus isn't really a circus without them; but is it fair on the animals kept forever in cages or chained save for the short period in the ring, performing ? I think, reluctantly, it's probably something that should be part of our past.
Yes, without a doubt.

Animals are not entertainment and it's very sad that even now in the 21st Century many people still think that they are.
Yes, definitely!!!
yes most definitely! they are wild animals and should be kept in the wild...
100% YES. Animas, especially wild animals do not belong in a circus. They lead a life of misery and deprivation.
wild animals yes definitely, even if the individuals are captive bred. I think the arguments for dogs and horses are less clear but i do think that the standards of work and housing and general care need to be set and monitored.
I'm even uncomfortable watching domesticated animals do circus/performance tricks.
Pity we can't ask the poor animals ....
Yes. I wouldn't go to a circus that involved animals.
Yes, definitely. Cruel and degrading.
Yes. The days when people could only see 'exotic' animals was at the circus are long gone.
When I was very young maybe 4 or 5 my gran took me to the circus and I hated it.

Of course they should.
Yes - no place for performing animals in a civilised society.
Yes.
It's always been traditional to have elephants, sea lions etc perform at a circus for decades. I can understand how it can seem to be cruel to have them take part in such an act, and I bet that organisations such as the RSPCA would agree with that. Also, if you think about it, if animals should be banned from performing at circuses, then perhaps the chimpanzees that appeared in the PG Tips adverts for many decades shouldn't have been used in their advertising, and neither should Ashleigh Butler's dog had performed with her in her act? Just a few examples that are similar to the circus performer situation. I personally think that the animals' health and welfare should come first before performing, and that goes for humans as well.
Yes
yes without doubt.
