Louis is 16, and had lost weight from being a strapping big cat of 6.5kg in his prime, to 4.12 kg as of last week. Blood test performed and thyroid tablets dispensed.
Managing to give them ok hidden in a small bit of smoked salmon.
Right, today, bit of his food, but we put it down to him vomiting a little bile this morning.
Just now, he made an awful crying noise in his basket, and got out to go outside. He vomited a small amount of milky stuff (He does not have milk - just water), then I noted his back legs were spasming. Brought him back indoors, and obviously will contact vet first thing. He is going between managing a few steps, then his feet going rigid and spasms again.
I suspect the worst obviously, anything I can do for him during the night?

Can't help ferlew, but this sounds exactly like my Daughters cat was. Just stay with him and give him as much fuss, comfort and warmth as you can. I hope he makes it through the night xx
Similar thing happened to my cat a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately she died.

Best I can do I suppose Mazie, he is sat behind me on my chair, purring. I know they purr to comfort them selves at times.
Fingers crossed ferlew he'll make it through the night. Let us know tomorrow please how he is. (Night x)
Best thing thru night is getting emergency vet if available.
Wish cat and you the best.
ferlew - on a practical note, you might put a warm hot water bottle in Louis' basket and place the basket as close to his food and litter tray as you can for tonight.

Fingers crossed for you both. x

Commiserations to Gavmacp .. it's horrible isn't it.

Sorry to say that Louis was put to sleep at 10am this morning.
I sat with him all night, and he was sick a couple of times, but the spasms continued on and off. At one time he was trying to walk on his back elbows, because his legs were not working. WE had lovely cuddles and strokes for the rest of the night until the time came to make the appointment.
At the vet he was lovely and calm, and I held him whilst the vet carried out the procedure. The vet was so kind and caring to us both.
I wouldn't mind going in the same way, when my time comes.
Thanks for all the kin d thoughts and wishes.
So sorry ferlew xxx
Sorry! I was scared our cat would run off and we would never find her.
Ferlew , so sorry for the loss of your cat, I am sure you did the best you could and he was not alone during this time,at least he is not suffering any more.
Oh I'm sorry. Poor Louis. And you. At least you can take comfort from the fact that he went in peace and with lots of love.
Sorry to hear your news ferlew, I know how I felt when our 19 year old dog was put to sleep many years ago. Think of all the happy times you had with him

Ferlew, I am sorry to hear about Louis - it is never easy when any friend dies.

We are lucky that we have some control over ending the life of our non-human friends. They deserve no less.

My heart goes out to you Ferlew. Know that he didn't go alone. He took your love with him. Love never dies. Best wishes. X
So sorry ferlew x x x
