Having a chit chat with the sis re our gerbils when we were in our teens.. we had two girls, anyhoo, one morning came across 6 or so little babies , ummed and ahhed about what to do, the next morning none of the babies were evident... So we take it that mum gerbils eat their young if not removed ( sorry this is about 40 years too late... just askin')(and to prove myself right!!) Always!!!

Yuk but yes -I was in Pets r us a while back and they were having an 'incident'. The fact was a gerbil had just given birth and was in the process of eating the babies in front of the kiddie winkles . Gerbils are horrid -one bit me at school and i had to have a tetanus injection in my bum i hate them lol!

(Don't think so) it was the fleas from the material bought from London sent to Eaym (Derbyshire)... the material was damp so the tailor opened it out in front of the fire.. ergo the fleas fled and infected hundreds... I've been there (mother embrassing her son on a school trip!) and seen the graves of at least 7 family members in the graveyard... (and put my son in the stocks to make sure we had a good day)! Rotten tomato anyone...?
It's not just gerbils. Rats and mice and rabbits for example will all eat their babies if they're stressed.
and pigs too
and hamsters - now there's the most boring pet I've ever had. Always asleep!
^^^^ or dead
Dogs can eat their pups too, especiaIIy if they have to have a C Section and don't give birth naturaIIy.
