Stressy Cats

My kitty has always been a nervous fella and sometimes after being out (his choice) he comes home and is very jumpy at the slightest noise or movement.

I know him very well and so tend to leave him be when he's in that state because he isn't calm.

I suspect this behaviour comes from other cats rattling him, he's the most sensitive Cat I have ever known.

I was thinking maybe a Feliway diffuser would help? Have you used them? Do you know of a cheaper alternative for when he comes home and settled in to try and ease his stress.

Thanks all

There are 1108 Feliway reviews on Amazon. 66% of them award Feliway 4 or 5 stars. However 20% of them award only 1 or 2 stars, so it seems to work for most cats but not for a minority. (There are even some reports of it making the situation worse):

So it might be worth a try but there can be no guarantees. (I've considered it myself for my nervous little boy but not yet tried it. The cheapest place on the High Street seems to be Asda pharmacies, where it's far cheaper than at most vets).

Thanks Buenchico. I read somewhere online that Peppermint oil does a similar job but I'm not convinced.

I think I will have to try the Feliway as I worry at how stressed he must be when in that state. Even at home with two people he trusts and still cannot truly relax. :(
I use the Feliway spray when taking Frankie to the vet. He wanders around crying pathetically after a trip to the vet. He doesn't seem to be too bad when I have used the spray.

He is a drama queen and total wimp and the trip to the vet is not something he enjoys - and we go every month.

We used the Feliway plug in when we added a very disturbed rescue boy to our family. Over a couple of days he calmed down considerably.

I think it must be worth a shot then, thanks all
